In the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders: DSM-IV, BPD is characterized as:

• Instability in one's relationships

• Poor impulse control

• Volatileaffect

• Self-image that fluctuates between emtpy depair and grandiosity

• Black and white thinking

• Self-mutilation

While it doesn't specifically mention hanging upside down as a bat, I have it feeling that falls under the self-mutilation section.
