BE UPSTANDING FOR PRESIDENT HUBRIS

The hubris of Obama, and his slobbering acolytes, has reached a height to which we have seldom been privileged to witness in public.

The Office of the President Elect, being but a glorious manifestation of their hubris; and the cause of endless mocking amongst those of us still inclined to prick the pompous facade of the insufferably self-righteous.

In Greek tragedy this excessive pride or hubris was eventually punished by the Greek Goddess Nemesis.

Now the media hacks generally know what a creepy, thin-skinned, easily annoyed, and essentially unlikeable person Barack Obama is. He was very unpopular with the travelling Hack Corps during the campaign.

Of course, he had/has his homo-erotically charged camp followers, like Chris Matthews, Matt Lauer and others. And the female hackettes of a certain age all carry a spare set of metaphorical panties to throw at him Tom Jones style.

But generally one gets the impression that most, in their hearts, recognized a well-practised huckster when they saw one.

But the back-rub was this, the hacks are still Democrats to the core; and still wanted the extreme lefty Democrat elected.

A sort of forced "Support the mission, but not the troops' leader."

Will this last? And who, or what, will be Obama's nemesis. Will he fly, Icarus like, too near the New York Sun, and crash to ground under a barrage of actual journalism?

Maybe the late British Prime Minister, Harold McMillan gives us a clue. When asked by a journalist what was most likely to blow governments off course, he replied in typical laconic style: "Events dear boy, events."

Events are going to happen to the Obama administration, in buckets. They already are, because he is, after all, the President Elect, doncha know?

It hardly helps that one of the moustachioed faces of the new administration is also extremely unpleasant: David Axelrod, ugly on the inside and the outside.

A mordant face that launched a thousand shits in his own image. Easily annoyed, and visibly bristling at being asked even a half decent real question, Axelrod is ripe for an on-air confrontation in which he comes off the uber-jerk.

So it will be interesting to see whether the media finally realizes its job is Nemesis to Obama’s endless hubris.

Or maybe events themselves will be the nemesis, overwhelming the carefully constructed façade of “competence” that rests on a foundation of thin air, and white media complicity in not treating a black candidate with the same skepticism it treats white politicians?

(Sorry, but someone has to say the racial guilt that dare not speak its name.)

It may take a while, though. Let’s hope it happens in the first term at least.

An article with no specifics whatsoever. It's a combination of insults and sweeping generalisations about a President who hasn't yet taken office? How you can be so opposed to the guy that hasn't even begun the job? It's people like you that see all this great hype about Obama saving the world etc. Very few of those who vote for him see him as a messiah or the second coming, people just see him as the best of the candidates that ran.

No specifics? Huh?

The opening paragraph has THREE.

I say President Elect Obama is full of hubris. That is very specific.

I say that so are his slobbering acolytes (implied is the media, such as Chris Matthews)

I say this is a sight which has rarely been played out so publicly. Culminating in the truly preening "Office of the President Elect" accompanied by faux seal and an intimidation applied dot gov domain address.

Dude. Do you know anything about the past 4 years Obama has been running for President. Apparently not.

Those are not specifics Jack, they are generalisations. Explain the hubris comment then. They've all gone about this 'President Elect' business before, are you mocking the fact that Obama seems more organised that others in the past?

How about I turn this on its head; what has Obama done to make you dislike him so much? People certainly joked about Bush before he got in, but few people hated him with in the way that some of the right seem to despise Obama before he's even taken office.

It's funny that just a few years ago a lot of so-called conservatives wanted everyone to respect the President above all, even if they didn't agree with the guy, he was the CIC and deserves respect. Now that doesn't apply any more?

I am not responsible for your ignorance, nor your lack of research. Even so I will make one more response:

Obama has raised self-regard to an art form. It is all well documented.

This was a common complaint of the travelling press corp.

Maybe you don't know what hubris means? Hubris is overweening pride, an arrogance so profound and so visible as to affront the gods themselves.

Here are a few examples of Obama's excessively prideful actions.

1. During the campaign he had a seat on his campaign aircraft marked "president".

2. He created his own presidential seal,
complete with Latin motto.

3. He claimed in a speech that his election would lower the world's oceans and seas; and start healing the planet.

4. He has repeatedly attempted to dictate how and on what level he, his ideas, and his activities may be discussed.

5. He has encouraged a portrayal of himself as a messianic figure, including a portrait of himself as Christ, complete with halo.

6. He undertook a "triumphant" grand tour of the old world, during which he attempted to shanghai an ancient monument for personal use without consulting the host government.

7. He felt himself so far above the Rev Wright controversy that he failed to even acknowledge it until it had already boiled over, leaving him no choice but to repudiate his longtime mentor.

I could go on and on, but I'm bored.

Yes, an incredibly stupid comment by someone who didn't pay attention to the billions of words of Obama rhetoric...

Apparently the swooning by the MSM didn't tip him off either that Obama is an empty suit...

Gee! I guess 'Rex Andrews' is either an Obamazoid or a congenital idiot...

Is there a difference?
